Privacy Policy

This policy explains how PayPrecise handles personal information when you use our calculators, purchase a Salary & True Wage Report, contact us or allow optional analytics.

Most free calculator inputs are processed in your browser and are not normally sent to us. Information entered for a paid report is sent to PayPrecise and relevant service providers so that we can take payment, generate and deliver the report, provide secure access and deal with support or security issues.

Who we are

PayPrecise is operated by PAYPRECISE LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 17202696.

Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

For UK data protection purposes, PAYPRECISE LTD is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. References to “PayPrecise”, “we”, “our” or “us” mean PAYPRECISE LTD.

What data we may collect

Depending on how you use PayPrecise, we may process the following:

Category	Examples
Free calculator inputs	Values such as salary, hours, pension, student-loan selections and work costs. These are normally processed locally in your browser.
Paid report data	Your email address and the information needed to prepare the report, which may include salary, age band, work region, occupation, working pattern, hours, pension, student-loan, housing, commute, overtime and report-goal information, together with the results generated from those inputs.
Order and payment data	Product, price, payment status, order or transaction references and fulfilment records. Card details are entered directly with the payment provider; PayPrecise does not receive or store your full card number.
Technical and usage data	IP address, browser and device type, referring page, approximate location, timestamps, security logs and interactions with pages or tools.
Communications and preferences	Information you provide when contacting us, requesting support or choosing whether to receive optional updates.

How calculator and paid report data is handled

The employer salary preview sends the role description, employer activity, region and benchmark choices to PayPrecise to interpret the vacancy and calculate the preview. We require an email address to unlock the free preview. We save the address, submission date, preview source and your optional marketing choice in private storage for 30 days, to provide gated access and record your request. We do not store the vacancy description in this preview email record. An address is not verified merely because it has been submitted. Please describe the role and business activity without naming candidates or including confidential information. If AI interpretation is enabled, the role and activity descriptions are also processed by our AI service provider.

You can choose separately to receive PayPrecise employer guides and product updates. This checkbox is optional and unchecked by default; declining it does not affect your free preview. We record the wording and date of an explicit choice. We do not treat the required preview email as marketing consent. You can withdraw your choice by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

For an employer report purchase, we also collect your email address, organisation name and optional company number, and retain the benchmark choices, report and payment references so that we can deliver and support the purchase. Employer cost and candidate take-home figures are illustrations; you do not need to provide a candidate's personal financial details.

Most free calculators run in your browser, so the values you enter are not normally sent to PayPrecise. Technical usage data may still be collected separately if you allow analytics or where security logging is necessary.

The UK timesheet and US time card calculators keep drafts and saved sheets in this browser's local storage when it is available. This remembers your work on this device; it is not cross-device synchronisation. Shift times, breaks, pay rates and sheet labels are not sent to our calculation servers, analytics or AI services. Other people using the same browser may see saved sheets. Clearing browser data can remove them.

Calculator drafts and named copies are separate from your analytics preference. A draft is updated as you work and may be replaced by your next sheet. A named copy remains until you delete it, clear calculator or browser data, or your browser removes it; these records do not have an automatic expiry. Declining or withdrawing analytics does not erase your timesheets.

You can download a private JSON backup, restore it on another browser, or use Delete all calculator data on this device to remove both countries' calculator drafts and saved sheets. This control leaves your cookie choice and other site tools' storage intact. CSV files, backups and printed sheets contain the information you entered; keep them private.

On these two calculator pages and this privacy page, Google Analytics is downloaded only after a valid analytics opt-in. Calculator feature events contain fixed action names, country, period type and version, without entered shifts, rates, labels or calculated amounts. Page addresses sent by these pages exclude query strings and fragments. With analytics consent, approved campaign labels and the origin of recognised search, social or PayPrecise referring sites can identify the traffic source. Unknown campaign labels, referring paths, search terms and personal URL values are omitted.

When you purchase a report, the information needed for that report is transmitted and processed so that we can confirm payment, calculate the results, create and deliver the report, provide access to it and respond to support requests.

We do not sell personal data. Please do not submit special-category information, confidential employer material or personal data about another person.

This privacy policy covers how personal data is used. The report description, price, delivery information and applicable purchase terms are shown separately before purchase or at checkout.

How we use personal data

provide and maintain the calculators and website, including gated employer previews requested by you;
process paid report purchases and generate, deliver and support purchased reports;
confirm payments, maintain transaction records and meet accounting or legal requirements;
protect report access, prevent misuse, investigate faults and secure the service;
respond to enquiries and support requests;
measure and improve the site where optional analytics has been accepted;
send optional marketing or product updates where you have agreed to receive them; and
establish, exercise or defend legal claims and comply with legal obligations.

Lawful bases

We rely on the lawful basis that fits the particular activity:

Our legitimate interests are operating a reliable and secure service, preventing misuse, resolving problems and improving PayPrecise in a proportionate way.

Public data and ONS attribution

Some salary benchmark information in PayPrecise reports is adapted from published Office for National Statistics data, including the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings. ONS material is used under the Open Government Licence v3.0, except where otherwise stated.

PayPrecise calculations, interpretations and report presentation are our own. PayPrecise is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Office for National Statistics. Source notes in the report identify the relevant ONS release or table where appropriate.

Cookies and analytics

We store your explicit analytics choice, the consent format version and the time of your choice in browser local storage under pp_consent_v1. This is used to remember and apply your preference, independently of calculator drafts and saved sheets. Your choice is valid for up to 365 days; expired, malformed or future-dated choices are treated as no permission and the notice is shown again. Clearing this site's browser data removes the choice.

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics may receive information such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device details, and interactions with site features. You can Reject analytics and can change or withdraw your choice using Cookie settings. Changes are also applied to calculator and privacy pages open in other tabs of the same browser. Withdrawal stops subsequent analytics on these pages; it does not delete information already received by the provider. The privacy page does not load Ahrefs analytics.

Sharing data with service providers

We use service providers to operate PayPrecise, including payment processing, website and cloud hosting, report generation or delivery, transactional email, security and optional analytics. We may also disclose information to professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts where reasonably necessary or legally required.

Providers receive only the information reasonably needed for their role and are required to handle it appropriately. The payment provider processes card information under its own privacy terms. We do not sell personal data.

International transfers

Some providers may process personal data outside the UK. Where required, we rely on an applicable UK adequacy regulation or recognised safeguards such as approved contractual protections. You may contact us for more information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

Data retention

Free employer preview email records, including optional marketing choices, are deleted after 30 days. Preview access grants expire after 30 minutes and are removed by the daily cleanup. Hashed abuse-rate buckets are removed after one day. The browser keeps the submitted address and access grant in memory during the preview journey; they are not sent to Google Analytics. Optional marketing subscriptions are not automatically created merely by entering the required email address.

If you allow employer analytics, we may temporarily queue an analytics event for delivery. Pending event data, including consented analytics identifiers, has a maximum retry window of 47 hours and is removed after successful delivery or on the next successful scheduled cleanup after that window expires. The cleanup runs every 15 minutes, including when analytics delivery is disabled. We then retain only a minimal receipt, containing a hashed reference, delivery status and timestamps, for up to 90 days to prevent duplicate events. These receipts do not contain the event data, your email address, vacancy details or report access credentials. This duplicate-prevention record is separate from routine diagnostic and security logs.

For employer Vacancy Salary Benchmarks, secure report and PDF download access is normally available for 90 days after the report is created. Save your PDF during that period. We normally delete the stored report, PDF, vacancy inputs and details used to deliver it 180 days after purchase, allowing time to resolve delivery problems, refunds and payment disputes. A daily cleanup processes records when they become due.

Unpaid employer checkout records are normally deleted 30 days after the payment provider confirms that the checkout expired unpaid. Where payment status cannot be confirmed, we retain the record for review rather than risk deleting a paid purchase.

Necessary employer order, invoice, payment and refund records are kept separately for six years from the end of the company financial year they relate to. Our financial year ends on 31 May. This accounting record contains transaction details and references, rather than the vacancy description, report or access token. Stripe also retains billing and payment information under its own privacy terms and applicable obligations.

Employer support correspondence is normally deleted 12 months after the case closes. Routine employer diagnostic and security logs are normally kept for up to 30 days. Our transactional email provider keeps delivery logs for one calendar month and does not store previews of new emails. We pause deletion of relevant records during an active dispute, investigation or legal obligation, and review whether they are still needed when the matter is resolved. You can contact us about access or deletion.

Free calculator values processed only in your browser are not normally retained by PayPrecise.

Other paid report, order and access records are retained only for as long as reasonably needed to deliver or provide access to the report, provide support, prevent misuse, resolve disputes and meet legal or accounting obligations. Payment and accounting records may be kept for longer where the law requires this.

Security logs are kept for a limited operational period, correspondence for a reasonable period after the matter is closed, marketing preferences until you unsubscribe or the list is no longer used, and analytics data in line with the selected service settings. Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, misuse, loss, alteration or disclosure. Access is limited to people and providers that need the information for the purposes described in this policy.

No website or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please provide only the information needed for the feature you are using.

Do you have to provide personal data?

You do not have to provide data to use general site content or the free calculators. To purchase and receive a personalised report, you must provide the information reasonably required to process the payment, calculate the report and deliver it. Without that information, we may be unable to provide the service.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights under UK data protection law, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction and, in some cases, data portability. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time for future processing.

Right to object: where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object. We will consider your objection and stop the processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue or need the information for legal claims.

You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how your data is handled. Complaint guidance is available at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.

Children

PayPrecise is not directed at children. Paid reports should be purchased only by people who are legally able to enter into the purchase.

Automated calculations

Our calculators and reports automatically produce estimates from the information entered. They do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, and PayPrecise does not use the information to make employment, lending, insurance or recruitment decisions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to PayPrecise, our data practices, legal requirements or the services we use. The latest version will be posted on this page with the updated date shown above.
