Who we are

What data we may collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may process the following categories of data:
How calculator data is handled
Calculator and comparison tools on PayPrecise are designed to give estimates based on the figures you enter. In general, inputs such as salary, weekly hours, commuting time, pension percentage, childcare cost or student-loan type are used to generate on-page results and improve the experience of the tool.
Where tool calculations are performed in your browser, those values are not automatically treated by us as account data or long-term profile data. However, general page usage and analytics information may still be collected when you use the website, subject to the cookie and analytics settings in place on the live site.
Do not enter information that you consider sensitive or confidential unless you are comfortable doing so.
How we use personal data
We may use personal data to:
- operate, maintain and secure the website and its calculators;
- understand how users interact with pages and tools;
- measure performance, improve content and improve the accuracy and usability of the site;
- respond to emails or other enquiries;
- monitor errors, misuse, suspicious traffic or attacks; and
- meet legal, regulatory or compliance obligations where applicable.
Lawful bases
Under UK data protection law, we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases depending on the activity involved:
Cookies and analytics
We may use cookies or similar technologies to keep the website working, understand traffic and improve the site. This can include essential technologies needed for site operation and optional analytics technologies.
If non-essential analytics cookies or similar technologies are used, they should only be set in accordance with the consent choices available on the live site. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings, but browser controls do not replace any cookie choices presented on the site itself.
The current page code references Google Analytics / Google tag technology. If enabled on the live site, analytics providers may receive technical and usage information such as page views, approximate location, browser details and interaction events.
Sharing data with service providers
We may share personal data with third-party service providers where reasonably necessary to run the site, such as hosting providers, analytics providers, security or performance tools, and email providers. We do not sell personal data.
Where service providers process personal data for us, we expect them to act on appropriate instructions and to handle data with suitable security and confidentiality protections.
International transfers
Some service providers we use may process personal data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take steps intended to ensure that personal data receives an appropriate level of protection, such as relying on recognised transfer mechanisms, contractual safeguards or equivalent protective measures where applicable.
Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to maintain the site, answer enquiries, keep security records and comply with legal obligations.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data involved. For example, analytics data may be retained in line with analytics settings, server or security logs may be kept for a limited operational period, and correspondence records may be retained for a reasonable period after the last interaction.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights under UK data protection law, including the right to request access to personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and, in some cases, portability. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time for future processing.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how your data is handled. We would, however, appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns first.
Children
PayPrecise is designed for general UK salary, tax and work-cost information and is not intended specifically for children. We do not knowingly target children or intentionally collect personal data from children through the site.
Automated decision-making
The calculators on this site generate estimate outputs from the values entered, but we do not use personal data for solely automated decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects about you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes to the site, data practices, legal requirements or the services we use. The most current version will always be posted on this page with the latest update date shown above.
